Senior Business Support Officer

Children's Services & Young People - Purchasing & Payments Team
Full time 37hrs Term Time

£22,791.66 - £24,292.80 Term Time per annum Grade 5

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and confident working with financial processes? We are seeking a Senior Business Support Officer to join our Children’s Services Business Support Team, providing essential purchasing and payment support to help services operate efficiently and effectively.

In this varied role, you will take responsibility for a range of finance-related administrative functions, including processing purchase orders, actioning payments, monitoring expenditure, reconciling financial information and supporting year-end financial procedures. You will work closely with managers and colleagues across the service to ensure financial transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

You will also provide senior administrative support, manage enquiries, maintain financial records, produce reports and statistical information, and contribute to the continuous improvement of business support processes. The role requires someone who can work with a good degree of autonomy, prioritise workloads effectively and maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

What we're looking for

  • Experience of processing financial transactions, purchasing or payment functions.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience of using financial and information management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience is desirable.
