About the Role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer will execute procurement activities for equipment, materials, and services to ensure timely, cost-effective supply to Hydro’s UK Operating businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on:
- Strategy & Supplier Relations
- Developing and maintaining a competitive supply base aligned with strategic and operational needs
- Leading sourcing exercises, including commercial negotiations, supplier selection, and drafting purchase agreements (under Procurement Manager guidance)
- Contributing to Category Plans, including demand forecasting, market analysis, and cost-saving opportunities

Procurement Execution & Performance
- Implementing and upholding Company procurement and quality policies
- Delivering value through sourcing, supplier performance management, and continuous improvement
- Evaluating procurement options for value for money and operational efficiency
- Monitoring price trends and advising stakeholders of cost/supply impacts

Risk & Metrics Management
- Supporting procurement performance reporting, including:
- Cost of goods
- On-time delivery and lead times
- Product/ service quality
- Conducting supplier risk assessments and risk-mitigation strategies
- Providing guidance to Buyers on best practice in procurement and quality management
- Supporting procurement performance reporting, including:

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to meet operational and commercial objectives
About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
Essential Qualifications
- A graduate degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related discipline
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., CIPS)
Critical Experience
- Proven procurement experience, ideally in equipment supply or technical industries
- Strong background in:
- Sourcing exercises
- Contract negotiation
- Commercial data analysis (e.g., price analysis, source selection)
- Supplier relationship management
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and logistics processes
- Experience managing international supply chains
