Job Title: Senior Buyer

Location: Pulborough, West Sussex
Salary: £45,000–£50,000, dependent on experience
Working Pattern: Office-based Monday to Friday during the three-month probationary period
Hybrid working available afterwards

An established specialist electronics manufacturer is seeking a commercially focused Senior Buyer to manage strategic suppliers and commodity groups. The role will protect continuity of supply, improve supplier performance and deliver competitive cost, quality and lead-time outcomes in a technically demanding manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for assigned commodities, including quotations, negotiations, contracts, purchase orders and ongoing supplier relationships.
  • Work with Planning and other internal teams to convert MRP demand into an effective supply plan, resolving shortages, delivery risks and inventory concerns.
  • Improve commercial and supplier performance through business reviews, KPIs, corrective actions, VAVE activity, cost reduction and supply-chain risk mitigation.
  • Support ECNs, NPI and supplier transitions, maintain accurate ERP purchasing data and ensure compliance with company procedures, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and health and safety requirements.

Experience Required

  • Proven purchasing experience covering electronic components, PCB assemblies and electro-mechanical products within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, supply-chain planning, inventory management, supplier quality and engineering change processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and analytical skills, with evidence of delivering cost reductions and supplier-performance improvements.
  • Confident Microsoft Excel, communication and stakeholder-management skills; electronics manufacturing experience and CIPS Level 4 or above are desirable.
