Senior Buyer – Soft Wovens for Love & Roses

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Buyer to lead our soft wovens department for Love & Roses. This is a key product area for the brand, showcasing our beautiful prints. This would be a chance to collaborate with a passionate and creative team, contributing to category growth through:
- Strong commercial awareness
- Expert product knowledge
- A sharp eye for trends
to help shape a profitable and well-balanced range.
The Senior Buyer is responsible for:
- Proposing and gaining agreement on the strategic business plan for their department.
- Leading the creation and delivery of a profitable, commercial range that maximises sales while meeting profit parameters.
- Providing high-level vision and mentorship to the team, ensuring performance is maximised across the brand.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Develop short-term and long-term department objectives (with Merchandising), maximising profit while considering:
- Markdowns
- Promotional activity
- Currency impacts
- Identify and address key departmental issues and opportunities to drive brand profit performance.
- Propose brand and product development initiatives (beyond your department) based on economic, social, and fashion trends.
- Anticipate the commercial impact of decisions on the brand and wider business.

Range Planning & Development
- Lead team proposals for:
- Seasonal direction
- Range structure
- Price architecture
- Critical delivery paths
- Build a commercial and inspirational range by identifying key trends from:
- Catwalks
- Street style
- Blogs
- Adapting them for Love & Roses’ target customer.
- Review and plan future supplier strategy (with Merchandising & Design), optimising:
- Sourcing requirements
- Trials
- Late buys
- Present range proposals effectively in selection meetings to gain senior management commitment.
Trading & Supplier Management
- Negotiate prices and supplier contracts to meet targets and margin requirements.
- Manage and attend weekly trade meetings, identifying late buys and reacting to sales to ensure a commercial range.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to resolve:
- Quality issues
- Cost fluctuations
- Late deliveries
- Assess the supply base (alongside Technical & Design teams) to recommend future business direction.
Team Leadership & Influence
- Manage and motivate the team (Assistant & Junior Buyers) through:
- Regular reviews
- Coaching
- Performance maximisation
- Delegate tasks effectively to distribute workload and meet deadlines.
- Actively build cross-functional relationships to:
- Gain insights on competitor activity
- Share findings with the team
- Challenge existing processes to drive business improvements.
Requirements & Skills
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in managing soft wovens women's wear at an established/senior level within a high-street/premium retailer.
- Proven track record in strategically managing and developing a team of direct reports.
- Strong senior management expertise with significant commercial P&L accountability.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and team development skills.
- Outstanding negotiation ability to manage complex supplier relationships.
- Profit-focused mindset complemented by strong analytical skills.
- Ability to travel when required (for supplier visits, trend sourcing).
