Senior Buyer - Permanent - Hybrid Working - Competitive Salary Package of between 50-65K per annum.

Do you enjoy delivering on critical infrastructure projects and helping to drive commercial value?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a growing infrastructure and engineering business in Birmingham to come and deliver on major projects.

As a Senior Buyer, you'll work ownership of procurement activities across live projects, ensuring materials, suppliers and commercial agreements are managed effectively to support impactful project delivery.

The successful person will help to drive cost efficiencies, strengthen supplier performance and ensure procurement activities remain aligned with project budgets, programmes and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing procurement activities across multiple infrastructure projects
  • Sourcing cost-effective materials and services
  • Negotiating pricing schedules, commercial terms and supplier agreements
  • Managing supplier relationships and monitoring supply chain performance
  • Supporting project teams with procurement planning and delivery
  • Ensuring procurement processes and governance procedures are followed
  • Managing purchasing documentation and approvals
  • Monitoring contractual changes and updating purchase orders accordingly
  • Communicating delivery risks, delays and supply chain issues pro-actively
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and reporting commercial benefits
  • Supporting continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working within a similar role as a buyer
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and Contract Law
  • Experience using ERP systems, ideally SAP Business One
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to work flexibly within project driven environments
  • CIPS Level 4 qualification (preferred)
