Buyer – Consumer Electronics Distribution
Location: UK

The opportunity
An established consumer electronics distributor is looking for a commercially focused Buyer to join its growing team. This role will take ownership of a portfolio of technology and consumer electronics products, managing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms, and ensuring the business maintains the right product mix at competitive prices.
You’ll work closely with sales, operations, supply chain, and marketing to identify opportunities, manage stock effectively, and improve category performance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing and commercial performance of an assigned product portfolio.
- Source new products, brands, and suppliers aligned with customer demand and market trends.
- Negotiate pricing, rebates, payment terms, promotional support, and supply agreements.
- Build strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and distribution partners.
- Monitor sales, margin, stock levels, availability, and product lifecycle performance.
- Produce accurate forecasts and purchasing plans.
- Minimise excess, ageing, and obsolete stock while maintaining product availability.
- Work with sales teams to understand customer requirements and identify commercial opportunities.
- Support product launches, promotions, and go-to-market activity.
- Analyse competitor activity, market trends, and emerging technologies.
- Maintain accurate product, pricing, and supplier information.
- Resolve supply, pricing, and delivery issues with internal teams and external partners.

About you
- Previous buying, purchasing, or category experience within consumer electronics, technology, retail, distribution, or a related sector.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of margin, pricing, and stock management.
- Confident negotiating with suppliers and managing commercial relationships.
- Comfortable analysing sales, inventory, and market data.
- Able to balance product availability with stock risk and working-capital requirements.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple product lines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and purchasing, ERP, or stock-management systems.

Desirable experience
- Experience working with consumer electronics retailers, resellers, or online marketplaces.
- Knowledge of product categories such as computing, mobile, smart home, gaming, audio, accessories, or home technology.
- Existing relationships with electronics manufacturers or distributors.
- Experience managing product launches, promotional funding, or vendor rebate programmes.
