Main Purpose of the Job

Based in any of our UK offices, we are seeking a Senior CAD & BIM Technician to contribute to our dynamic Water & Environment sector team. Your role will involve supporting project delivery while adhering to industry and client standards.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the CAD & BIM Team – Lead Technician, you will:

  • Collaborate with project managers and teams to ensure workload continuity and coordination.
  • Oversee development, management, implementation, and application of CAD & BIM standards.
  • Create, edit, and develop 3D native models using Revit and other Digital Delivery Tools.
  • Provide BIM deliverables aligned with industry standards, such as BS EN ISO19650 (BIM Stage 2).
  • Generate 3D data for clash detection, model validation, and stakeholder workshops.
  • Support the CAD & BIM Team Lead Technician in best practice, training initiatives, and work-from-the- Water & Environment Business Unit and wider organisation.
  • Assist with supporting Federated Model development (geometrically and non-geometrically).
  • Design and maintain CAD/BIM template files and Digital Delivery tools.
  • Lead BIM review/coordination meetings on behalf of the CAD & BIM Team Lead Technician.
  • Familiarity with multiple BIM formats (dwg, dgn, rvt, xml, IFC, NWF) and their applications.
  • Expertise in Common Data Environment (CDE) data management.
  • Strong 3D modeling, data analysis, and manipulation skills.
  • Understanding of 4D (time) and 5D (cost) workflows.
  • Adherence to Pell Frischmann’s Business Management System (BMS) procedures.
  • Effective time management to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated and capable of taking on responsibility and leadership.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • ****HNC or higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in the built/civil sector:
    • Design and drafting (2D & 3D).
    • Primary use of Revit.
    • Adherence to BIM standards.
  • Practical experience in consultancy organizations or engineering firms.
  • Experience in resolving 3D design issues.
  • Familiarity with sector-specific software (water & environment).
  • Ability to develop BIM standards for buildings & civil sectors.
  • Capable of quality control and auditing others’ work.
  • Resolution of CAD/BIM design issues.
  • Adaptability to multi-disciplinary BIM coordination.

Preferred

  • HND qualification.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institute.
  • Demonstrable history of current-revit process training and mentorship of colleagues.
  • Skills in BIM template creation and maintenance.
  • Robust understanding of Revit projects set-up.
  • Experience in parameters, families, and fitouts-specific models.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM Collaborate Pro.
  • Usage of Navisworks for federated model analysis.
  • Experience with Dynamo for automation tasks.
  • Experience with commercial visualisation tools:
    • Twinmotion
    • Enscape
    • Unreal Engine
    • Unity
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Plant 3D.
