Main Purpose of the Job
Based in any of our UK offices we are looking for a Senior CAD & BIM Technician to join our busy team in the Water & Environment sector. You will be supporting the delivery of a range of projects to the required industry and Client requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the CAD & BIM Team - Lead Technician you would be expected to undertake the following roles:
- Liaise with project managers and project teams to ensure continuity of workload and robust coordination.
- Responsible for CAD&BIM Standards development, management, implementation and application.
- Responsible for creating, editing and developing 3D native models using Revit and other Digital Delivery Tools.
- Provide CAD&BIM deliverable outputs, aligned to the relevant specifications and CAD&BIM industry standards such as BS EN ISO19650 [BIM Stage 2].
- Provide 3D geometrical data for appending into clash detection, model validation and stakeholder liaison workshops.
- Support the CAD&BIM Team Lead Technician with Digital Delivery tool best practice and training initiatives, both within the Water & Environment Business Unit, and with the wider business.
- Provide the CAD&BIM Team Lead Technician with support for delivering Federated Models, both geometrically and non-geometrically.
- Create and maintain CAD&BIM software Digital Delivery tool template files.
- Be comfortable to lead BIM review/coordination meetings on behalf of the CAD&BIM Team Lead Technician.
- Understanding of multiple BIM software formats (dwg, dgn, rvt, xml, ifc, nwf etc.) as well as their possibilities and limitations.
- Competent with saving, sharing and updating product data in a Common Data Environment.
- Strong 3D Modelling, data analysis and manipulation skills.
- Understanding of 4D (time) and 5D (cost) workflows.
- Comply with Pell Frischmann’s Business Management System (BMS) Procedures
- Manage own time in order to deliver to project programmes.
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to take on responsibility.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential
Qualification
- HNC or higher in Civil Engineering/similar or relevant experience.
- HND.
- Member of a relevant professional institute.
Experience
- Proven Building/Civil sector experience in design and drafting (2D & 3D) with Revit as the main software tool.
- Practical experience of adhering to BIM standardised working and best practice.
- Previous experience working within an engineering and/or consultancy organisation.
- Demonstrable examples of how to resolve 3D design issues.
- Good knowledge in various software tools applicable to the Water & Environment Sector.
- Ability to develop BIM Standards relevant to Building & Civil sectors.
- Capability to quality control and audit others work.
- Ability to resolve CAD&BIM related design issues.
- Acting as BIM coordinator in multi-discipline environments.
Skills
- Ability to conduct internal training and mentoring of staff.
- Creation and maintenance of BIM software templates.
- Experience in setting up of BIM projects.
- Good knowledge in 3D modeling tools applicable to chosen discipline.
- Handling information flows between different software in a project, i.e. communication between software.
- Experience in the creation of Revit parametric families.
- Experience in creation and management of Revit templates.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud and use of BIM Collaborate Pro.
- Experience using Navisworks for Federated Model analysis.
- Experience using Dynamo with Revit for greater automation of tasks/functions.
- Good knowledge in several other software modeling tools or similar:
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- Plant 3D
- Competent knowledge of Visualisation software tools or similar:
- Twinmotion
- Enscape
- Unreal Engine
- Unity
