JOB – Senior CAD Engineer

LOCATION – Bedfordshire

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is an innovative clean technology company. They are looking for a Senior CAD Engineer to join their growing engineering team in the Bedfordshire area on a permanent basis.

The Senior CAD Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years' experience in mechanical/process design for modular or packaged systems
  • Advanced Autodesk Inventor experience, including complex assemblies, fabrication drawings and BOM creation
  • Strong AutoCAD experience, with AutoCAD Plant 3D experience being highly advantageous
  • Experience producing General Arrangement drawings, P&IDs, isometrics and fabrication documentation
  • Good understanding of design standards for piping, pressure systems and structural supports
  • Experience working with fabricators, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage technical documentation and design revisions
  • Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a project team

The Senior CAD Engineer role will involve:

  • Designing process systems from concept through to manufacture and delivery
  • Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Creating General Arrangement drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, layouts and Bills of Materials using Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant engineering standards
  • Supporting fabrication, assembly and testing by liaising with suppliers and manufacturing partners
  • Resolving technical queries and implementing design improvements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Preparing fabrication-ready documentation, technical specifications and Operating & Maintenance manuals
  • Working closely with process, controls and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated engineering solutions
  • Managing design revisions, documentation and project records throughout each stage of delivery
  • Supporting continuous improvement by incorporating feedback from fabrication, testing and client installations
