Senior CAD Engineer – Autodesk Inventor / AutoCAD – Skid & Containerised Systems

Senior CAD & Mechanical Design Engineer

About Bluemethane

Bluemethane’s mission is to prevent a billion tonnes of methane emissions from water. Our technology measures and captures dissolved methane, turning a harmful greenhouse gas into a clean energy opportunity.

Role Purpose

Own the end-to-end CAD and mechanical design process for Bluemethane’s skid-mounted and containerised methane recovery and measurement systems, from concept through detailed design, fabrication support, assembly, testing, and delivery. This is a hands-on senior CAD engineering role requiring:

  • Advanced Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD capability
  • Practical experience with fabricated process equipment
  • Clear, proactive communication with internal engineers, fabricators, suppliers, and stakeholders

The successful candidate must independently produce production-ready 3D models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and revision-controlled design packages for real fabricated equipment, not just perform basic drafting tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete skid designs including structural frames, piping, and equipment layouts, optimised for manufacturability and transport.
  • Produce accurate 3D models, assemblies, drawings, layouts, isometrics, and P&IDs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, aligned with process, fabrication, and installation requirements.
  • Ensure code compliance with ASME, BS, and ISO standards, as well as Bluemethane’s internal design protocols.
  • Deliver fabrication-ready packages, including BOMs, drawings, and specifications to suppliers.
  • Supervise skid manufacturing and assembly, ensuring adherence to design and safety standards.
  • Prepare Operating & Maintenance Manuals for handover to clients.
  • Maintain clear design communication, including documented assumptions, decisions, risks, open issues, technical queries, and revision explanations.
  • Conduct traceable design reviews and maintain revision-controlled documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Standards application: Ensure designs meet ASME, BS, and ISO codes for pressure vessels, piping, and structural supports.
  • Manufacturing oversight: Liaise with fabricators, monitor build quality, and resolve design queries during construction.
  • Documentation: Prepare BOMs, datasheets, and comprehensive O&M manuals for delivered systems.
  • Collaboration: Work with process, controls, and experimental engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical requirements.
  • Communication: Provide clear, explicit, and proactive updates on:
    • Design progress
    • Risks and blockers
    • Assumptions and changes
    • Open actions
