Main Responsibilities
We are recruiting a full-time Senior Capital Project Manager to lead and support the delivery of capital projects across the Trust, ensuring they meet key objectives and support our overall strategic plans.
You will have responsibility for the design, development and delivery of complex projects across our sites, risk & financial management, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest standards. From modernising healthcare facilities and ensuring compliance with NHS and statutory regulations, to driving innovation in sustainable design, this role offers both challenge and reward in equal measure.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:

Fulfil the role of Senior Capital Project Manager for several assigned projects in line with financial limits, ensuring successful delivery for designated schemes within a dedicated portfolio, meeting deadlines, costs, and quality standards, adhering to HTMs, HBNs, and all statutory/legislative requirements.

Assist Principal Project Managers and other team members in the daily management and administration of:
- Large and complex projects — from conception to completion
- Regular accompanied planned inspections and unaccompanied ad-hoc site checks
- Appraise and comment on:
- Rate of progress
- Standard of workmanship
- Compliance with specifications and contractor administration
- Assess health & safety measures on site.

Appoint and manage multidisciplinary teams, including:
- Line management of project teams
- Appointment and performance monitoring of external contractors and consultants

Maintain project cost planning and cost control procedures to:
- Establish and maintain a clear, balanced cost framework for designing and delivering projects
- Ensure alignment with agreed budgets as the maximum expenditure limit.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:

Specialist expertise in works and building knowledge to Degree level
- Qualified as:
- Architect/Chartered Surveyor/Structural Engineer/Civil Engineer/Quantity Surveyor to Master’s level or equivalent
- Qualified as:
-
Evidence of structured study as a Project Manager
-
Trained in:
- Health & Safety (H&S)
- CDM (Construction Design and Management)
- Design & project management
-
Membership of the Association for Project Management (APM) or equivalent
-
Substantial experience in:
- Architecture, building, or construction management
- All stages of construction projects and project management
-
Track record of managing delegated budgets, works, and fee contracts tested by competitive tender
-
Current awareness of:
- Statutory requirements, standards, and regulations
- Unsocial hours attendance when required (e.g., crisis management support)
Desirable Criteria:

Membership of:
- RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects)
- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
- ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) or equivalent

Broad awareness of training courses in the building and construction fields
-
Experience in:
- Managing consultant/construction contracts from design to completion

Collaboration experience with:
- In-house engineering/facilities functions
- Statutory authorities and DOH (Department of Health)

Demonstrated Continuing Professional Development in the chosen field

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
