About the Role

Position: Senior Care Assistant (Full-Time, Day Shifts – includes alternate weekend rotation) Location: Ferndown, Dorset, UK Salary: £14.75 per hour + comprehensive company benefits Employer: Top 20Care Home Group (Rated “One of The UK’s Best Companies to Work For”)

Heathland House is a luxurious 66-bedded residential and dementia care home in Ferndown, Dorset. We are seeking passionate, enthusiastic, and reliable Senior Care Assistants to join our dedicated care team, committed to promoting individuality, independence, and choice for our residents at all times.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide expert residential and dementia care to clients while fostering dignity, autonomy, and well-being.
  • Supervise and mentor junior care staff with compassion and guidance.
  • Administer medication (with relevant qualification and experience).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care legislation, including CQC Fundamental Standards.
  • Organise, prioritise, and deliver high-quality care under pressure.
  • Uphold teamwork, professionalism, and a pro-active attitude.
  • Ensure effective verbal and written communication with colleagues, families, and residents.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, with proven supervisory experience.
  • Experienced (mandatory):
    • 2+ years working with older people (ideally in a Senior Care Assistant role).
    • Medication administration credits and relevant qualification.
  • Foundational knowledge of dementia care best practices.
  • Soft skills:
    • Strong team player with high adaptability.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively.
    • Commitment to continuing personal development.

A-level GCSEs in English and Maths are highly recommended.
