Senior Care Assistant

Senior Care Assistant – Full-Time (Day Shifts & Weekend Cover)

Salary: £14.75 per hour, plus company benefits

Hours: Full-time day shifts, including alternate weekend working

Location: Heathland House – a luxurious 66-bedded residential and dementia care home in Ferndown, Dorset.


The Role

We are seeking dedicated, experienced, and passionate Senior Care Assistants to join our highly supportive team. In this role, you’ll be committed to:

  • Promoting choice, individuality, and independence for our residents at all times.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior care staff to ensure high standards of care.
  • Administering medications (with relevant qualifications).
  • Supporting residents with dementia in a compassionate, person-centred way.
  • Working within a team-oriented environment where collaboration is key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality, personalised care to older adults and dementia sufferers.
  • Working with experienced Senior Care Assistants mentoring colleagues to deliver exceptional care.
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and best practice in care legislation.
  • Collaborating with the team to develop and implement care plans.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of care legislation (including CQC standards).
  • At least 2 years’ full-time experience working with older adults, preferably including dementia care.
  • Experience administering medications (with a relevant qualification).
  • Supervisory experience in a care setting (previous role as a Senior Care Assistant is desirable).
  • Proven reliability, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Physical ability to perform care duties, with or without assistive aids.
