Senior Care Assistant – Contract Role
Charlotte, Exeter (family-owned care home)
£13.52 per hour 🔹 Full and part-time hours available 🔹 Enhanced overtime rate 🔹 Paid DBS checks 🔹 Pension & uniform provided 🔹 5.6 weeks’ annual leave (pro-rata for part-time)
About the Role
As a Senior Care Assistant at Alexander House, you’ll lead and support your team in delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care that makes a meaningful difference to our 67 residents.
Your responsibilities include:
- Overseeing care delivery – Ensuring care is well-organised, consistent, and of the highest standard during your shift.
- Assisting with hands-on care (e.g., mobility, personal hygiene, meals) while managing, documenting, and responding to residents' needs.
- Medication management – Administering medication safely and accurately while monitoring residents’ wellbeing.
- Tracking changes – Reporting any shifts in health or behaviour to adjust care plans accordingly.
- Accurate record-keeping – Maintaining up-to-date care logs and communication with colleagues, families, and external healthcare teams.
- Weekend commitment – Must be available to work alternate weekends.

Person Specification
We’re looking for a compassionate leader with:
Eligibility & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum requirement).
- NVQ Level 3 or comparable qualification – a strong asset.
- Willingness to progress towards higher qualifications if needed.
- Medication administration training and competency – essential.
- Experience supporting or leading teams in care settings (ideal).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
