Senior Care Assistant – Contract Role
Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire Salary: £14.52 per hour Hours: Full and Part Time available Benefits:
- Paid DBS
- Pension contributions

- 5.6 weeks’ annual leave (full-time basis)

Role Overview
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting your team to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care to our 70 residents at Valarian Court Care Home. Your key responsibilities include:
- Taking accountability for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring consistent, high-standard care is delivered across Nursing, Residential, Dementia, and Respite care.
- Providing hands-on care while overseeing medication administration and monitoring residents' wellbeing.
- Responding promptly to any changes in condition to ensure safe and appropriate care.
- Maintaining accurate care records and collaborating with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals for clear communication and continuity of care.
- Required to work alternate weekends.

About the Role
This is a leadership-focused care role, where you will not only care for our residents but also support and lead a team to maintain exceptional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate and professional care tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Assess and monitor residents' health and emotional well-being.
- Assist with medication administration (competency required).
- Keep detailed care records and report changes to the care team.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, support staff, families, and external healthcare providers.
- Ensure high hygiene, safety, and well-being standards are maintained.
- Take ownership of shift duties and delegate tasks appropriately within your team.
Person Specification
We’re looking for a motivated and caring individual with:
Qualifications & Experience:
✔ NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 preferred or a willingness to upskill. ✔ Competency in medication administration (essential). ✔ Experience in supporting or leading a care team (advantageous). ✔ Strong background in carer roles (previously in care, nursing, or supporting vulnerable adults).
