Senior Care Assistant
Senior Care Assistant – HC One
About the Role
Please note: This full-time role (44hrs per week) operates on a seven-day rota, including occasional weekend shifts. Each shift is a long shift (11hrs+ including breaks).
As a Senior Care Assistant at HC One, kindness will guide everything you do, from our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Key Tasks:
- Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and Care Managers to develop and implement personalised care plans, getting to know residents and their families.
- Lead a team of Care Assistants, ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently met—whether supporting mobility, meal assistance, end-of-life care, or mental stimulation through social/recreational activities.
- Administer medication and assist with physical and psychological engagement.
- Maintain accurate care records and foster strong relationships with the team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents in daily activities with compassion and attention to detail, ensuring their needs are met with kindness as the core principle.
- Engage in medication administration and monitor residents' health and wellbeing.
- Organise and participate in social and recreational activities to enhance living experiences.
- Support family meetings and ensure open communication whenever possible.
- Document care in line with company policies, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse and Care Manager on resident-specific care strategies.
- Promote and uphold a safeguarding culture, recognising signs of abuse, neglect, or harm.

Requirements
- Ideal candidates will have:
- A Level 2 Diploma/S/NVQ in Adult Social Care
- Interest and ability to pursue a Level 3 qualification in Adult Social Care or equivalent
- Experience (or strong desire) in person-centred care planning
- Specialist knowledge in caring for individuals with dementia
- Essential skills include:
- Exceptional people skills—connecting sincerely with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Strong record-keeping ability and precise attention to detail.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritise tasks in a demanding setting.
- A considerate, empathetic, and proactive communication style in all interactions.
- Prior safeguarding knowledge (training provided if not already held).
