Senior Care Assistant (Nights) | Part Time | Pro Rata | Burnley, Lancashire

Senior Care Assistant (Part-Time) – 23.33 Hours per Week

Salary: £25,185 – £25,989 per annum | Pro Rata Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract: Permanent, Part-Time Working Pattern: 6-week rolling rota, evenings (21:30–08:30) Visa Sponsorship: Not available for international applicants


Shift Pattern

Shifts rotate on a 6-week schedule:

  • Week 1: Thursday – Friday
  • Week 2: Wednesday – Thursday
  • Week 3: Tuesday – Wednesday
  • Week 4: Monday – Tuesday
  • Week 5: Sunday – Monday – Saturday
  • Week 6: Sunday – Friday – Saturday

All shifts run from 21:30 until 08:30.


About the Role

This ** Senior Care Assistant** role supports older adults and those living with dementia across Lancashire County Council’s care services. Embedded in a compassionate, supportive environment, you’ll contribute to the vision: “To be the best quality service, safely supporting older people with kindness, dignity, care, and compassion to live their life their way.”

You’ll join a team that cares for over 1,000 adults across 16 Care Homes and 13 Day Centres.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality personal and practical care to older people.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate teams to deliver exceptional care standards.
  • Support older adults to live independently and with dignity.
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure care aligns with individual needs, including those with dementia.
  • Adhere to compliance protocols, ensuring safety and safeguarding within care settings.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Commit to completing an NVQ Level 3 during employment (if applicable based on expertise).
  • Dedicated leadership skills, with proven ability to:
    • Lead and inspire teams
    • Motivate staff to deliver care consistent with organisational values
  • Practical wisdom in ethical care delivery and the value of respecting autonomy.

Desirables

  • Professional qualifications (e.g., Diplomas in Health/Social Care) are a plus.
  • Experience in dementia care, but not essential—to be learned within role.

Further Mandatory Requirements

  • Completed Application Evidence Sections: prior care experience and qualifications must be submitted.
  • Background check: Prompt DBS disclosure will be required (under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, 1975 Order).
