Senior Category Manager

A leading food manufacturer is seeking a Senior Category Manager to join their team on a 14-month fixed-term contract. Part of a major European food group with operations across 30+ countries, this business is known for its award-winning culture, collaborative environment, and commitment to sustainability and employee wellbeing.

This is a pivotal customer-facing and strategic role, acting as the lead Category Advisor for a major UK supermarket group. You'll be responsible for developing and delivering category solutions that drive growth for both the retailer and the business, with ownership of the full category relationship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary Category Advisor to a major UK grocery retailer, building strong partnerships across multiple levels and functions within the customer organisation
  • Develop and execute long and short-term category growth plans, using best-in-class insights to influence range, merchandising, promotional strategy and in-store activation
  • Lead the customer commercial agenda internally, ensuring customer learnings are shared across the business and integrated into commercial planning cycles
  • Manage and develop the relationship with third-party data providers, becoming an expert user of insight tools to deliver strategic recommendations
  • Support cross-functional project teams on key commercial growth initiatives, acting as the voice of the customer
  • Upskill internal teams, particularly Sales, on category insight tools and how to build compelling category-based customer narratives
  • Define and embed the category vision for key customers in line with their corporate objectives and growth opportunities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
