Senior Category Manager

Senior Category Manager – Tesco (FMCG) at The Advocate Group

The Advocate Group are proud to be partnering with a globally recognised FMCG business with a portfolio of iconic brands, enjoyed by consumers across the UK and internationally.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a Senior Category Manager to take ownership of category strategy and performance across Tesco, one of the UK’s most important grocery customers, and to play a key role in driving growth across a high-profile portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead category management activity across Tesco, building strong, credible relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver category growth strategies, range reviews, and recommendations that drive joint value creation and commercial performance.
  • Translate shopper, consumer, and market insights into compelling customer narratives and actionable recommendations.
  • Identify and unlock growth opportunities through robust data analysis and clear commercial insight.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Insights, and cross-functional teams to deliver aligned category plans.
  • Support joint business planning and wider customer planning processes with best-in-class category expertise.
  • Act as a trusted category partner, influencing strategic decisions and long-term growth across the Tesco account.

About You

  • Proven experience in Category Management within FMCG.
  • Experience working with major grocery retailers.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into commercial insight.
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to influence, challenge, and build credibility.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
