About the Role

Help shape the future of healthcare construction. Your expertise could genuinely change lives!

At NHS SBS, we’re looking for a Senior Category Manager to lead and deliver two of our works Frameworks – Public Sector Construction Works and Decarbonisation of Estates. This role offers construction procurement professionals the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact.

Join an award-winning team dedicated to improving NHS construction and infrastructure across the country. Your work won’t just shape procurement strategies—it will support better environments for patients, staff, and communities while helping build the next generation of healthcare facilities.

We fully support flexible working, with monthly collaboration meet-ups in our Salford office and occasional travel to client sites, exhibitions, and conferences.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a talented team of procurement specialists, including two direct reports at different career stages.
  • Develop short- and long-term construction category strategies that improve resilience, unlock value, and align with NHS business objectives.
  • Provide procurement guidance to Contracting Authorities, including compliance with PCR 2015, PA23, and familiarity with JCT and NEC contract models.
  • Use data and insights to spot opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Oversee a portfolio of high-value projects, influencing key procurement decisions and raising quality standards.
  • Present confidently to Senior Leadership, including formal Board-level discussions.
  • Collaborate with Service Directorates, Heads of Procurement, and senior NHS leaders to deliver robust national procurement support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
