Senior Charge Nurse
Uist Community Nursing Team Band 7 Annual Salary: £52,845 - £61,466 per annum Plus Distant Islands Allowance: £1,461 per annum
Shift: 36 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent post Location: NHS Western Isles (eligible for relocation expenses)

NHS Western Isles is offering an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Senior Charge Nurse to lead the Uist Community Nursing Team.
About the Role
The Senior Charge Nurse will provide clinical, professional, and operational leadership to a team comprising District Nurses, Staff Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a clinically visible leader, ensuring high-quality care across residential homes, the community, and CTAC centres
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective and appropriate patient care
- Overseeing all aspects of the team’s functioning and fostering a supportive, high-performing environment
- Leading strategic planning, monitoring service delivery, and championing patient safety and quality standards

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
- Background in community nursing and previous leadership experience as a Charge Nurse or similar role
- Experience:
- Proven capability in clinical leadership, team management, and strategic decision-making
- Values & Skills:
- Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams
- Additional Requirements:
- Agreement to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups)
