Purpose of the Role
At Senior Chartered Building Surveyor level, you will lead and manage a range of building surveying services across multiple projects. You will provide professional advice on property and construction matters, including design, maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance. This role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct building surveys, inspections, and condition assessments across commercial property portfolios
- Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and schedules of work
- Manage refurbishment, maintenance, and repair projects from inception to completion
- Advise on building regulations, planning permissions, and health & safety compliance
- Undertake defect diagnosis and recommend remedial solutions
- Undertake survey work including Pre-acquisition, Exit, and Maintenance Survey
- Act as a Party Wall Surveyor and provide advice relating to neighbourly matters
- Act as a CDM Principal Designer/CDM Advisor
- Provide dilapidation advice and negotiate settlements
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and statutory bodies
- Mentor and supervise junior surveyors and graduates
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards

Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Building Surveyor with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)
- Fluent with Microsoft packages and relevant IT systems
- A highly motivated commercial mindset, with the ability to work in a team and demonstrate self-starter initiative
- Strong research, analytical, and reporting skills
- Resilience to work under pressure, with excellent prioritisation, time management, negotiation, organisation, and attention to detail
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, delivering information clearly and succinctly
- Proactive, change-adaptive, and able to maintain a positive ‘can do’ attitude while upholding professionalism
- Valid UK driving licence
Location
The role is based in the Bristol office, though occasional travel to other locations may be required.
