Senior Childcare Practitioner
Location: Pitcoudie Out of School Club, Glenrothes
Job Summary
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Salary: FC5 £29,170.80 - £31,761.26 (Pro-Rata)
- Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 07:45 to 09:00 & 14:45 to 18:00 (standard term)
- 07:30 to 18:00 during school holidays
- Closing Date: Thursday, 16 July 2026
- Proposed Interview Date: Tuesday, 28 July 2026
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Childcare Practitioner to:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the Out of School Club
- Plan, supervise and ensure play-based activities for children (ages 5-12)
- Lead a small team of Childcare Practitioners and promote high standards
- Organise play areas with appropriate resources and adaptive equipment
- Create a safe and engaging environment supporting independence and confidence
- Provide healthy snacks (compliant with dietary needs)
- Transform spaces where children can explore freely
- Offer one-to-one support when required, including injuries and emergencies
- Build strong professional relationships with parents, carers, and partners
- Support the Childcare Manager in delivering an effective out-of-school service

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience working with children (5–12) and young people in care/play settings
- Supervisory leadership (preferably in childcare services)
- Formal qualification in children & young people’s support (e.g., SVQ 3 Social Services)
- Team management experience

Legal and Regulatory Requirements
Before starting, you will need to:
- Protect Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership from Disclosure Scotland
- Become an SSSC-registered professional within three months of appointment
- Note: The full SSSC application process must be completed within six months.
