Senior Children's Residential Support Worker

**Children’s Home Shift Leader – £36,231 - £40,640

Exemplifying those huge small victories

Working in our Children’s Homes means being a vital part of a young person’s daily life — from celebrating their successes to providing strong support during challenges. Our Shift Leaders play a unique role in helping our young people regain precious moments of childhood while guiding them towards becoming confident, well-rounded adults.

Each day brings rewards, challenges, and meaningful connections. By fostering stability, ensuring smooth operations, and inspiring our team, you become part of an environment where even the smallest changes create lasting, positive impact.

What You’ll Do

You’ll thrive in a setting where your support, leadership, and authenticity transform lives. Our homes accommodate young people with social, emotional, mental health needs and work towards enriching every child’s experience through:

  • Empowering small, everyday wins — celebrating progress, whether it’s a calm morning or a quiet moment of connection
  • Providing a consistent, nurturing presence to help our young people feel safe and valued
  • Managing everyday care and crises with compassion and resilience
  • Collaborating with the wider team to ensure high standards in scholarship, pastoral support, and operational excellence
  • Occasionally deputising for Team Leaders to sustain a well-supported, seamless service

At its core, this role combines deep personal connection with influential leadership, ensuring that every young person under our care feels seen, understood, and encouraged.

What We’re Looking For

This is about gut instincts as much as professional experience. We want professionals who care intrinsically and possess:

✓ A ‘can-do’ attitude —indenpendent, resourceful, and eager to help fellow team members and young people thrive. ✓ Empathy and an authentic commitment — you mute mearly ‘doing the job’ and genuinely connect with our young people’s distinct challenges. ✓ Resilience — challenges are part of the process, but you respond with patience, positivity, and emotional steadiness. ✓ A valid UK driving license (held for a minimum of 12 months) to enable safe, reliable access to our homes.

We pay potential, not experience. Here’s a head-start:

  • No qualifications? Don’t worry! We’ll fund and fully support the completion of our Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if you don’t already hold it.
  • An opportunity to tremendously impact others with real, tangible outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
