Senior Airfield Civil Engineer – UK and International Projects

About the Role
With decades of experience, WSP’s aviation experts specialise in planning, designing, and managing next-generation airports, integrating resilience, sustainability, and smart technologies. We’re seeking a Senior Airfield Civil Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge UK and international airport projects, playing a crucial role in our multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications for airfield engineering projects in the UK and overseas.
- Lead design teams, coordinate stakeholders, and communicate technical details effectively.
- Identify and manage design risks, issues, and Request for Information (RFIs).
- Ensure projects stay on track by meeting cost, quality, and time targets, while championing health and safety compliance.
- Act as a technical mentor for junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Work closely with Project Managers on change management, document control, and project progress tracking.
- Engage with clients professionally to build relationships and support future business opportunities.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in civil engineering, construction, design, or a related discipline.
- Chartered or Incorporated Status (e.g., MICE, MCIHT) or equivalent experience (not essential but preferred).
- Proven experience delivering large, complex airfield civil engineering projects in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Strong knowledge of international airfield design standards (e.g., ICAO, CAA, EASA, FAA).
- Technical competency in tools like Civil 3D, AviPlan, SkySafe, and FAARFIELD (preferable but not essential).
- Familiarity with construction contracts (e.g., NEC) and processes (advantageous).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
