Join a major UK water industry programme and help shape the future of clean and wastewater infrastructure across the country. This is an excellent opportunity to work on long-term frameworks delivering meaningful improvements to essential services.
Purpose And Scope Of The Role
As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will support the Principal Engineer in the delivery of conceptual, schematic and detailed design for water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment works, pumping stations, sewers and pumping mains. Working within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, modellers and analysts, you will contribute to feasibility studies, optioneering, design development and construction-ready outputs. You will also liaise with clients, contractors and supply chain partners to ensure high-quality, practical and cost-effective solutions.
Your Impact In This Position
You will play a key role in delivering significant capital programmes that support AMP8 and beyond, helping to improve river health, resilience and service performance across the UK. Over time, you will build trusted client relationships, broaden your technical influence and support the development of junior colleagues. Longer term, this role offers the opportunity to grow your career within major national frameworks with lasting impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
