Permanent Senior Civil Engineer - Rail (STE2)
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Senior Civil Engineer - Rail (STE2) to join our dynamic CEFA team in Southern England – Hybrid working 37.5 hrs per week.
In this role, you will support the Regional Structures Engineer in the reviewing and submission of examination reports within Southern Region. This will include risk scoring and recommendations, in accordance with NR standards, technical specification and timescales.
You will assist in any investigations and incidents related to structures examination activities and provide technical support and advice relative to these incidents.
This role offers you the unique opportunity to work with Amey, who have worked continuously with Network Rail delivering aspects of the CEFA contracts since 2009.
What You’ll Do
- Work as a part of the Regional Structures Engineer (South) reviewing team across all 3 routes in the Southern Region (Kent, Sussex and Wessex).
- Support the CEFA Project Director, Engineering Assurance and Development and the Regional Structures Engineer by striving to apply a consistent and unified approach to reviewing in line with the technical specification and in the application of risk scoring.
- Ensure that all reports are reviewed and submitted to meet all technical and contract KPI requirements.
- Undertake ‘Supervising Engineer’ duties for both STE2 and STE4 competencies, as directed by the Regional Structures Engineer.

What You’ll Bring
- Expertise in Structures examinations and maintenance.
- STE2 competent – essential.
- Previous experience of the review of completed examination reports i.e. Bridges, Retaining walls, Culverts, Tunnels and Ancillary structures etc, making engineering recommendations with the application of risk assessment.
- Chartered or Incorporated Civil or Structural Engineer – Desirable
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a small team, a dedicated approach to working within and meeting strict deadlines. Have a client focused approach to service delivery.
