Caulmert is a dynamic, growth-driven consultancy delivering high-quality planning, environmental, and engineering solutions across the UK. As we continue to expand, we are strengthening our Engineering and Digital Design team with the appointment of a talented Senior Civil Engineer.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across education, commercial, residential, industrial, leisure, health, rail, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality civil engineering design, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting technical excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review design information, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders, providing clear technical guidance.
- Lead and contribute to design, project progress, and client meetings.
- Develop preliminary and detailed design solutions aligned with UK and European design standards.
- Prepare and support S38, S278, S104, and S106 submissions.
- Undertake site-wide assessments including cut and fill, drainage layouts, and road alignment design.
- Assist with project management, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and sustainability requirements.
- Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Maintain compliance with CDM regulations and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Proactively identify opportunities to add value and promote Caulmert’s services.

About You
You will bring a combination of technical capability, initiative, and a collaborative approach.
We are looking for someone with:
- HNC or degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng desirable).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering, ideally in a senior role.
- Working towards professional registration (ICE or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of UK & European design codes and sustainability principles.
- Proficiency with civil engineering design software (e.g., Microdrainage, Causeway, Site 3D, Civils 3D, AutoCAD).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a wider engineering team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- UK driving licence and access to transport.
