Senior Civil Engineer

Senior Civil Engineer – Wastewater and Stormwater Management (Mid West)

As demand grows, we’re strengthening our civil non-infrastructure capabilities in the region.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with expertise in project delivery and leadership across:

  • Wastewater and stormwater management
  • River systems and environmental improvement (source to sea) scales

This role sits within a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering innovative, low-carbon, and nature-based solutions at both local and catchment levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for high-impact projects, including:

    • https://www.arup.com/projects/greener-grangetown/
    • https://www.arup.com/projects/welsh-river-and-coastal-regeneration/
  • Wastewater and stormwater catchment studies (WINEP/NEP, SOAF)

  • Flood risk and river health assessments

  • Civil structures, wastewater/treatment infrastructure

  • Environmental flood mitigation strategies

  • Work collaboratively across engagements, from strategic planning and design to:

    • Construction supervision
    • Asset management
    • Performance monitoring
  • Support research and digital tools, fostering innovation

  • Contribute to multidisciplinaryarodies and knowledge-sharing across disciplines

Requirements & Preferred Experience

We’re seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with:

Core Skills

  • Strong leadership experience in project delivery
  • Proven passion for sustainable, inclusive catchment-scale solutions

Technical Expertise

Essential experience preferred in:

  • Design and delivery of wastewater & treatment systems
    • Network operations, treatment facilities, and infrastructure
  • Stormwater & SuDS (conceptual and detailed design)
    • Sustainable drainage systems, retention/attenuation
  • Flood risk assessments
    • Strategic to detail level solutions, catchment analysis
  • Multi-disciplinary team coordination
    • Process engineers, hydraulic modellers, MEICA consultancy, placemaking specialists
  • Digital/data management
    • Application of data analytics and translation into actionable insights
    • Familiarity with climate-resilient systems, resource efficiency evaluative tools

Qualifications & Professional Status

  • Professional engineering qualification (e.g., OBE/MEng degree + Chartered/MIEng status)
  • Adjacent to a qualification? If close to register or chartered, relevant evidence encouraged
