Senior Civil Engineer - Hydraulic

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley, to deliver award-winning projects. Working for Mott MacDonald Bentley, you will work on major water and wastewater schemes throughout all phases of the project, from feasibility through to construction. The company has secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, lasting up to eight years. This will see MMB tackle projects across the DCC region, covering both clean and wastewater treatment sites, below-ground assets, reservoirs, and nature-based solutions.

After securing its first framework with DCC at the beginning of AMP6, MMB’s presence in Wales has grown significantly, directly employing over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles—from frontline construction to design and management.

Senior Civil Engineer – Hydraulic

You will play a pivotal role in shaping civil functions throughout the lifecycle of projects, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring all civil aspects are meticulously considered and well-integrated.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide design support and guidance for schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the commercial, operational, and construction teams to develop efficient, practical, and safe solutions throughout design, construction, and beyond.
  • Engage positively with clients, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to support their objectives.
  • Manage interfaces and integration of civil design with other disciplines, producing relevant documentation.
  • Act as a technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews across teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes by developing and implementing:
    • Standard designs
    • Sustainable solutions
    • Digital tools
  • Conduct site reviews to ensure the buildability of solutions and their integration with existing systems.
  • Support the growth of the civil engineering team by coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skills, while identifying appropriate resources for projects.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartership (CEng) with a relevant engineering institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering high-quality outputs in line with design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.
