Role Description
The Senior Civil Engineer will provide technical leadership on civil engineering projects, overseeing design, analysis, and delivery of infrastructure and building-related works. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Developing detailed designs (e.g., roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities)
- Reviewing and approving engineering calculations and drawings
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- Managing project timelines and resources
- Mentoring junior colleagues
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements and present design solutions

The role will contribute to quality assurance, risk management, and value engineering to support successful project outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Plymouth.

Qualifications
- Strong civil engineering design and analysis skills, including experience with highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities.
- Proficiency with relevant civil engineering software tools (e.g., Autodesk, BIM platforms, hydraulic and structural analysis packages desirable).
- Solid understanding of UK design standards, building regulations, and infrastructure guidance, with experience applying them in practice.
- Proven project management abilities, including planning, resource coordination, budget awareness, and deadline management.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, providing technical guidance and supporting professional development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Relevant degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; chartered or working toward chartered status with a professional institution (e.g., ICE).
- Experience in consultancy or similar client-facing environment, with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Commitment to health, safety, sustainability, and inclusive working practices on projects and within the team.
