Job Description

We are looking for an **experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support the expansion of our energy team and help shape the future of sustainable infrastructure. Successful candidates will work across:

  • Renewables & Transmission
  • Distribution

Locations & Working Model

  • Offices in Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, London, and Perth.
  • Flexible hybrid work model to support a balanced lifestyle.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Civil Engineer, your role will include:

  • Client Liaison & Project Management

    • Coordinate day-to-day project work to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
    • Engage with energy utility providers and private developers.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Design Leadership

    • Lead and oversee civil infrastructure design, including:
      • Roads, drainage systems
      • Civil structural elements
      • External works

  • Technical & Compliance Expertise

    • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, and specifications in line with:
      • UK standards (BS EN codes, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations).
    • Conduct site inspections and resolve technical queries.
  • Documentation & Reporting

    • Produce high-quality deliverables like:
      • Feasibility studies
      • Inspection reports
      • Design documentation
  • Mentorship

    • Guide and mentor junior staff to foster growth within the team.

Scope of Responsibilities

Key Energy Projects You’ll Support:

  • Onshore wind farms
  • Solar PV installations
  • Hydroelectric projects (run-of-river, pumped storage)
  • Grid infrastructure (substations, overhead lines)
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Degree:
    • BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering (or comparable qualification).
  • Professional Registration:
    • Chartered status with:
      • Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
      • OR, actively working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
  • Technical Competency:
    • Proven ability to deliver high-caliber civil/structural design.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong report writing and organizational abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with:
    • National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS)
    • National Grid CDAE’s systems.
