Our Regulated Water Asset Design team specialises in serving the municipal water sector both in the UK and internationally. We work directly with UK water companies like Severn Trent Water and Southwest Water, as well as top-tier contractors such as Costain and Galliford Try, delivering integrated design services for:
- Wastewater treatment
- Water treatment
- Sewerage schemes
- Water network projects
Due to rising demand, we’re actively recruiting experienced Civil Engineers to support the AMP8 water sector capital investment programme—whether you’re already in water engineering or transitioning from another sector.

Key Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer at WSP, you’ll own project delivery while fostering growth, innovation, and client relationships. Your role includes:
- End-to-end project management, including health & safety compliance, technical execution, quality assurance, cost control, and timely delivery to budget and schedule.
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams, integrating civil engineers, environmental specialists, and other engineers to deliver cohesive project solutions.
- Expanding service offerings by identifying opportunities to introduce complementary WSP services (UK-based and global).
- Strengthening client relationships to ensure projects achieve strategic outcomes and maintain high satisfaction levels.
- Driving innovation by contributing to new service development, digital tools, and sustainable solutions through our Future Ready and Net Zero programmes.
- Ambassadorial role: Promoting best practices within your team and championing client projects.
- Bid preparation and resourcing, including development of team structures, budgets, and timelines for new opportunities.
- Mentoring junior talent: Supporting graduate engineers and degree apprentices in technical and professional development.
- Team growth: Contributing to recruitment efforts and building a high-performing civil engineering collective.
- Career advancement: Actively developing your technical, managerial, and leadership skills across ambitious projects.

Essential Requirements
Candidates are expected to demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline).
- Chartered status or significant progress toward ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) or CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) membership.
- Proven experience managing engineering design teams, including collaboration with a range of disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Hands-on experience checking or approving civil infrastructure design, including linear projects (water/sewer networks) or industrial/process-related schemes.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, particularly in technical skills and industry best practices.
- Strong client-facing expertise, with a track record of building positive, consultative relationships.
- Excellent communication skills in writing, presentation, and verbal discussions.
