Senior Civil Litigation Lawyer (Debt Recovery)
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for an experienced, Senior Civil Litigation Lawyer (Debt Recovery) to join the Council to provide a comprehensive and professional legal service in this area.
You will report to the Principal Lawyer – Litigation within the Legal Department. You will provide a comprehensive and professional legal service in all aspects of civil litigation law with a focus on debt recovery.
You will provide the Council with expert advice and guidance on aspects of civil litigation including housing law and especially debt recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provision of advocacy services at public inquiries, before tribunals and in civil courts in civil proceedings in relation to the area of specialism.
- Carry a caseload in respect of the area of specialism and related project matters including civil litigation and debt.
- Utilising skills and experience gained within a similar position; you will report to the Principal Lawyer (Litigation) and will have your own complex and varied caseload.

Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, CILEX or similar qualification
- Have experience of civil litigation cases preferably in a local government context
- Excellent knowledge of the law and practice in the areas of civil litigation
- Experience of managing a wide and varied workload with minimal supervision
