Role Purpose This role plays a key part in the success of Financial Lines Claims and the position offers the opportunity to contribute to business development, support underwriting strategy, and further develop your leadership capabilities within a growing, dynamic organisation. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of complex, high-value claims arising from all classes of Financial Lines, including Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, Financial Institutions and Cyber. Lead the claim strategy, including investigation, reserving, expert appointment, and resolution approach within an agreed authority. Lead negotiations on contentious claims, including coverage and quantum disputes, through to settlement or closure. Deliver clear and timely large loss reporting to senior management Act as a key point of contact for brokers and clients. Attend and present at market events, promoting the Starr brand. Build and maintain strong relationships, along with collaborating with Underwriters to support client retention and new business opportunities. Support Underwriters with wording reviews and the development of new products. Support and mentor junior colleagues, demonstrating good leadership and acting as a technical referral point within the team. Qualifications, skills and experience Essential In depth knowledge of all Financial Lines products. Strong communication skills. Proven experience handling large and complex claims Experience operating in ‘lead’ position and able to contribute to and influence strategy. Experience managing large loss reporting and presenting to senior management. Ability to deliver a high standard of claims service to clients and stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills with underwriting and other internal teams as required. Continuous development of technical knowledge and understanding of relevant classes of business Mentoring skills Desirable Exposure to complex claims across relevant lines of business. Familiarity with claims systems (e.g. ECF, Docosoft). Progress towards, or interest in pursuing, ACII (or equivalent professional qualification).
