Senior Claims Specialist - Reinsurance Liability

Senior Claims Specialist - Reinsurance Liability

Position: Full time, permanent

Location: London


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead proactive market-leading claims handling under authority for Reinsurance Liability lines, ensuring optimal outcomes for clients and business while aligning with **MS Amlin’s core TRUST (Transparency, Responsiveness, Understanding, Solution-driven, Technical expertise) philosophy.
  • Deliver consistently exceptional first-class claims service, adhering to MS Amlin’s policies, procedures, controls, and claims philosophy, including deputising for Claims Leadership/Management where required.

Detailed Accountabilities

Claims Management Cycle (FNOL to Settlement)

  • Handle complex claims globally from Reinsurance Liability lines (and other classes as needed) to ensure a superior level of service.
  • Proactively monitor and reserve claims to establish early best estimates and facilitate prompt, cost-controlled settlements.
  • Ensure full compliance with MS Amlin procedures, controls, and regulatory requirements (Lloyd’s, FCA, PRA, J-SOX) while maintaining ‘green’ Claims KPI performance.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Champion a collaborative culture of open communication, dynamic claims resolution, and continuous improvement, fostering knowledge sharing to optimise service delivery.
  • Deputise for senior claims roles (Claims Manager, Technical Claims Lead, etc.) as demand requires.
  • Provide specialist knowledge to clients and the business, enabling loss prevention and mitigation efforts.
  • Lead claims insight and reporting (data analysis, reserving inputs) to influence business decision-making and risk management.

Stakeholder & Broker Engagement

  • Partner with underwriters to enhance the risk proposition and strengthen client acquisition/retention strategies.
  • Build strong broker relationships, leveraging feedback to refine service delivery and co-(Re)insurer partnerships.
  • Act as an advocacy ambassador, reinforcing MS Amlin’s claims reputation and market positioning.

Process & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to delegated claims procedures and service provider oversight, integrating external experts as part of your team.
  • Drive claims process modernisation, aligning with strategic business transformation initiatives.

Requirements

Core Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of claims experience in Reinsurance/Liability, demonstrating expertise in market-leading claim resolution and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven ability to build/manage client/broker/co-insurer relationships, including portfolio/account management.
  • Strong fidelity to principles of the London Market (e.g., ECF, regulatory frameworks).
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel operations, MS Amlin’s Claims Systems) and accounting/delegation systems.
