Our Client
Mackie Myers have partnered with a growing commercial finance and business advisory consultancy in Oxfordshire to appoint a Senior Commercial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded advisory business that works as a strategic partner to ambitious SMEs, entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses.
The Role
The Senior Commercial Accountant will manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, acting as their primary finance partner and providing a blend of accounting, tax and commercial advisory services. You'll develop strong client relationships, deliver high-quality technical work and provide strategic financial insight to help clients make informed business decisions.
Main Duties
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses across a variety of sectors.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, acting as their first point of contact for financial and commercial matters.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
- Prepare corporation tax computations, company tax returns and self-assessment tax returns.
- Review and advise on VAT compliance and VAT treatment.
- Provide commercial advice around profitability, cash flow, budgeting and business performance.
- Support clients with financial planning, forecasting and strategic decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve client performance and introduce additional advisory services where appropriate.
- Manage client assignments from initial records through to final review with minimal supervision.
- Mentor junior members of the team and support their technical development.
- Keep up to date with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory changes.

The Successful Candidate:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Minimum of five years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, corporation tax, personal tax and VAT.
- Experience managing a client portfolio independently.
- Commercially minded with the ability to interpret financial information and communicate practical business advice.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
