An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Coder to join the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) Clinical Coding Team.
At NCA, you’ll code across one of the widest specialty ranges of any NHS trust — from obstetrics and neonates to spinal, neurosurgery, rehab and major trauma. Few organisations nationally can match this breadth, offering a rare opportunity to expand your expertise and work on genuinely varied, complex activity every day.
We are seeking experienced, accredited clinical coders who hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) and have proven multi-specialty experience.
As a Senior Clinical Coder (Band 5), You Will
- Code a diverse casemix, from high-volume day cases to highly specialised activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Work collaboratively across multiple hospital sites within a large, supportive department.
- Mentor and support less experienced coders, strengthening team capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and service development.
What We Offer
- Flexibility – hybrid working across Bury, Oldham and Rochdale, or fully remote where appropriate.
- Breadth – exposure to one of the widest casemixes in the NHS.
- Career growth – clear pathways and strong internal development support.
- Community – a collaborative department within one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the country.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
