About the Role
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Plastic Surgery Department, specialising in craniofacial surgery, on a fixed-term basis.
The ideal candidate should meet ST6 level or higher while demonstrating sufficient clinical competence to:
- Manage patients independently
- Undertake procedures autonomously
- Participate in consultant-level emergency on-call duties
Ideal for those preparing for a consultant role or equivalent, this role offers specialist exposure in craniofacial surgery alongside trauma, hand, oral, and maxillofacial surgery experience as required.
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Lead daily ward rounds, handovers, and junior supervisory sessions
- Coordinate traumatic injury surgery lists
- Oversee both independent and assisted surgical procedures
- Provide outpatient care and management of emergency surgical repairs

Emergency & Clinical Practice
- Manage dental abscess triage
- Support pre- and post-operative patient care
- Assist in complex trauma cases in collaboration with senior colleagues
- Rotate through on-call duties
Academic & Training Involvement
- Engage with audit, research, and academic projects within the team
- Actively contribute to trainee induction and departmental meetings (trauma, governance, teaching)
Requirements
- A motivated, career-focused individual with a commitment to Plastic, Oral & Maxillofacial, or ENT Surgery
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Independent patient care
- Surgical autonomy
- Consultant-level emergency management
- ST training level equivalent to Level 6 or higher
- Ability to integrate seamlessly into multidisciplinary team workflows
