Job Description: Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine
This is a middle grade position in a supported Emergency Medicine department. The applicant should aim to gain more experience before entering formal training at ST4 onwards or by the CESR route and Article 14, or the Defined Route of Entry into Emergency Medicine (DREEM).
About the Role
This new middle grade position as Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine offers the opportunity to consolidate experience in Emergency Medicine. Alongside developing clinical skills, the post will allow the applicant to develop Ultrasound and Research skills. This department has a strong link to ultrasound training and teaching and will provide support to interested candidates to achieve Level 1 & Level 2 Ultrasound skills.
The post will also allow participation in the active research and quality improvement programs within the department. Many of the research projects have been presented in international conferences and also published.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care, knowledge, and skill for patients either directly or by supervision and floor management of junior clinical staff.
- To maintain the standards of the College of Emergency Medicine and the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
- To assume clinical responsibility for patients brought to the department by emergency services, self-referring, or referred by GP.
- To deal with unexpected emergencies, including those resulting from infectious diseases like COVID-19.
- To be part of the Trauma Team co-ordinated management of major trauma.
- To be immediately available for opinion, guidance, and advice on any patient seen by a junior clinician in the ED at any time during the rostered duty shift.

You will be part of the multidisciplinary clinical team as middle grade in the Emergency Department.
