Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery

Role Overview

This post is aimed at a Senior Clinical Fellow who would like to gain a further period of development in the sub-specialty of Spinal Surgery in preparation for a consultant role.

The role also gives exposure to specialist Spinal clinics and theatre lists, and the opportunity to engage in specific research and audit programs. This post has been developed to support the spinal service and increase the outpatient and inpatient capacity to meet existing demand and growth for spinal services across Coventry and Warwickshire. The post supports a 1:10 on-call rota for general neurosurgery.

The training needs of the Fellow will be considered before determining the amount of time spent with different spinal consultants. The Fellow will be expected to have a specialist interest in gaining experience in spinal degenerative practice, spinal trauma, MSCC, and minimally invasive spinal surgery.

The post holder will be expected to take part in the Multi-Disciplinary spinal meetings including weekly spinal disorder/spinal trauma MDT and weekly Tumor MDT.

The Spinal Firm has weekly MDT's and the post holder will be responsible for the coordination and participation at MDT.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
