Senior Clinical Fellow in Hand and Wrist Surgery – 12-Month Fellowship

University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Hand and Wrist Surgery for a supervised 12-month fellowship, with primary supervision by Miss Joanna Higgins and Jeremy Southgate.

We are primarily recruiting for fellows to start in September 2026. However, we will also consider suitable applications for future opportunities during the interview process.

About the Role

The Senior Clinical Fellow in Hand and Wrist Surgery will be based across three clinical sites, working within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Directorate:

  • Bournemouth Hospital (elective cases)
  • Wimborne Hospital (elective cases)
  • Poole Hospital (trauma cases)

The role covers elective and traumatic conditions affecting the hand and wrist, including:

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Values & Environment

The work will align with #TeamUHD’s values, which define our approach to patient care, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Over the next year, UHD is undergoing service transformations and redevelopments following merger and the New Hospital Programme. This may result in service relocation to new sites. While this has been planned to minimise disruption—including for this role in Winter 2026—recruitment managers will provide further clarity and answer any questions during interview.
