Senior Clinical Nurse Manager
Senior Clinical Nurse Manager – The Duke of York’s Royal Military School
The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is seeking to appoint an **experienced and dynamic Senior Clinical Nurse Manager to lead the School’s Medical Centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare services for approximately 500 boarding students.
The successful candidate will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership, overseeing a multidisciplinary team and delivering a wide range of healthcare services, including:
- Emergency care
- Long-term condition management
- Mental health support
- Health promotion
Additionally, they will play a vital role in safeguarding, clinical governance, service development, and continuous improvement, contributing to the health and wellbeing of all students across the School.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the School’s Medical Centre, ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective healthcare delivery.
- Lead, manage, and develop the multidisciplinary Medical Centre team, including:
- Recruitment, supervision, appraisals, performance management
- Staff wellbeing initiatives
- Oversee workforce planning, staffing rotas, and service provision to guarantee appropriate clinical cover and continuity of care.

Clinical & Operational Excellence
- Deliver expert clinical assessments, triage, decision-making, and care management for students with:
- Acute, chronic, and complex health needs
- Ensure the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of healthcare services, including:
- Emergency response
- Mental health support
- Long-term condition management
- Immunisation programmes
- Health promotion initiatives
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance through:
- Audits
- Risk management
- Incident investigation
- Quality assurance & continuous service improvement
Compliance & Safeguarding
- Ensure adherence to:
- Healthcare legislation
- Safeguarding requirements
- School policies and professional standards
- CQC expectations
- NHS guidance
- Support partnerships with:
- Students, parents, and School staff
- External healthcare providers and agencies
- Provide expert advice on healthcare, safeguarding, and wellbeing to the Senior Leadership Team
- Oversee:
- Accurate clinical record-keeping
- Medication management
- Healthcare protocols
- Safe operation of Medical Centre equipment

Position & Salary Details
- Full-time, term-time post plus 6 additional weeks per year, working 37 hours per week.
- Salary range: £42,286–£48,661 per annum (pro rata), based on DOYRMS Band 10 (£50,109–£57,664 FTE).
- Salary adjusted according to qualifications and experience.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
