Senior Clinical Pharmacist in Oncology (12 Month Fixed-Term Position)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity awaits for a pharmacist with clinical cancer experience to join our cancer pharmacy team as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist in Oncology. This is a 12-month fixed-term position within the oncology team, where you will work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to support and expand the growing service.

As a world-leading research facility and large oncology tertiary referral centre, this role offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge licensed treatments and clinical trials for oncology patients.

Role Overview

As a registered pharmacist, you will provide a person-centred approach to specialist pharmacy services for oncology patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) across all oncology indications. Key duties include:

  • Delivering evidence-based, high-quality pharmaceutical care
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote innovation in treatments
  • Supporting education for pharmacy and hospital staff on new and emerging therapies
  • Ensuring clinical governance, audits, and service improvements align with person-centred care goals

Therapy Responsibilities

The UCLH Cancer Pharmacy Team, spanning oncology, haematology, and transplantation, has a united collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will:

  • Help develop and deliver a person-centred clinical pharmacy service vision
  • Lead clinical governance, audit, practice-based research, and service improvements
  • Contribute to career development opportunities within cancer services

Main Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Key tasks include:

  • Providing highly specialised, evidence-based clinical advice to the multidisciplinary team on oncology care
  • Ensuring cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical services are delivered
  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services for oncology patients
  • Overseeing junior pharmacists and their clinical pharmacy service delivery
  • Supporting training and professional development in oncology pharmacy practice
  • Facilitating the opening and management of new oncology clinical trials
