Senior Clinical Psychologist
Clinical Psychologist (Older Adult Mental Health Team) – Preston, Chorley & South Ribble
About the Role
An exciting Opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist with experience and enthusiasm in working with older people, to join the friendly and supportive Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.
This role offers an interesting and varied therapeutic experience, including:
- Running therapeutic groups
- Formulating complex case presentations
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to the following core duties:

Clinical Work & Consultation
- Hold psychology consultation sessions with staff
- Provide direct clinical work and specialist psychological assessments
- Conduct formulation sessions and chair complex case meetings
- Prepare and present case formulations for multidisciplinary discussions

Training & Support
- Lead and deliver staff training (psychology and non-psychology disciplines)
- Offer supervision to psychology and non-psychology colleagues as required
- Conduct trainee placement programmes for aspiring clinical psychologists

Organisational & Service Development
- Collaborate with:
- Team Principal Clinical Psychologist
- Multidisciplinary team
- Team Manager & Clinical Lead
- Wider adult psychology network
- Contribute to high-quality, community-orientated services for older adults
- Develop research skills for clinical audit, policy and service improvement
- Collaborate with:

Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Advise both psychology and non-psychology colleagues on patient care
- Work autonomously within NHS guidelines and team protocols
Eligibility & Expectations
To be successful in this qualified Clinical Psychology role: ✔ Must be a qualified clinical psychologist with experience in older adult mental health ✔ Will require regular clinical supervision by the team’s Principal Clinical Psychologist ✔ Attendance in case meetings, training sessions, and team-guidance discussions ✔ Involvement in service and research development in ageing populations
