Senior Clinical Psychology – Child Neurodevelopment (Band 7 with Development Path to 8a)
Job Overview
We are advertising for a permanent, full-time Senior Clinical Psychology position in our child neurodevelopment service. Suitably skilled and experienced applicants are encouraged to apply, including those seeking to join at Band 7 with a supportive development plan towards the Senior Band 8a role.
The post-holder will join our diverse, vibrant multi-disciplinary team (MDT) based in Caernarfon, providing highly specialised neurodevelopmental assessments and advice for children and young people and their families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading neurodevelopmental assessments across Gwynedd and Anglesey
- Close collaboration with child learning disability, mental health services, and multi-agency partners
- Taking a clinical leadership role, nurturing expertise through supervision and training
A strong commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence is required.
Applicants at Band 7 with development potential are welcomed if they demonstrate the ability to progress towards Band 8a, with structured support in place.

Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will:
- Lead neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological assessments based on clinical need
- Support the wider team in ** psychological formulation and clinical decision-making**
- Develop consultation and supervision skills for multi-agency professionals and families
- Provide training, mentoring for trainee clinical psychologists, and contribute to service development
- Contribute effectively to clinical supervision and staff development
- Foster a supportive culture, promoting team growth and clinical quality

Detailed Job Requirements
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
- Honours degree in Psychology
- Graduate membership eligibility with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (BPS-accredited)
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Desirable
- Training in research methodology, staff training, or applied psychology
Experience (Essential)
- Accredited clinical psychology experience, ideally with significant post-qualification refinement or specialist experience in child neurodevelopment
- Evidence of extensive clinical supervision in the role
Desirable
- Experience in teaching, training, and supervision
