Senior Clinical Research Practitioner
Senior Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP) – Fixed Term/Secondment
About the Role
We have an exciting fixed term/secondment opportunity for an experienced registered research healthcare professional to join the Research and Development Department at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB) Services NHS Foundation Trust.
This 12-month fixed-term post (for maternity cover) will be based predominantly at the Sandwell Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and will involve:
- Overseeing a team of research practitioners
- Managing the facility’s portfolio of studies
- Leading a team of Clinical Research Practitioners
- Providing specialist skills and clinical oversight to support the running of clinical trials, both commercial and non-commercial
Candidates should be:
- Experienced, confident, and collaborative, with strong team leadership skills
- Exceptional communication and time-management abilities
- Highly detail-oriented
- NMC-registered nurses (due to the role’s clinical demands)

Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management: Lead the delivery, monitoring, and submission of a diverse range of clinical studies.
- Team Leadership:
- Provide line management for a team of Clinical Research Practitioners
- Foster professional development through training and supervision
- Clinical Oversight:
- Take clinical responsibility for protocols and patient cohorts
- Work alongside the Lead CRP to ensure facility integrity and operational excellence
- Process Improvement: Drive efficiencies and enhance the patient experience within the CRF’s research programmes.
