About the Role
As a Senior Cloud Development Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and enhancing scalable Microsoft Azure-based cloud applications that support Malvern Panalytical’s digital products and business operations. Working through the full software development lifecycle, you’ll contribute to architecture, development, testing, deployment, and optimization, ensuring high-performing, secure, and reliable solutions.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, UX designers, and cross-functional engineering teams, translating business requirements into robust, user-centric cloud applications. As a senior technical leader, you’ll champion engineering excellence, from secure coding standards and DevSecOps to automation and CI/CD pipelines, driving innovation and quality across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cloud engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping technical strategy, and building impactful solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, supporting digital products, business efficiency, and superior user experiences
- Lead technical architecture decisions and full-stack development, ensuring solutions align with enterprise principles and scale efficiently
- Collaborate with Product Owners, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to deliver customer-driven, high-value solutions
- Champion modern engineering practices, including:
- Secure coding guidelines
- Automated testing and DevSecOps
- CI/CD pipeline optimisation
- Code quality management
- Reusable design patterns
- Active participation in Agile delivery teams, driving sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to enhance performance
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges using data-driven insights, improving reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Mentor and coach engineers to foster a culture of learning and high-performing teamwork

About You
Experience & Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience in software development)
- Proven expertise in designing and delivering full-stack cloud applications in enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on skills in:
- C#
- .NET
- Microsoft Azure services (e.g., virtual machines, storage, Blob/Table, IoT, Serverless, App Services, Kubernetes)
- Deep knowledge of secure coding practices, automated testing (e.g., xUnit, SpecFlow), CI/CD pipelines, and software architecture
- Proficient in:
- Troubleshooting using logs, profiling tools, and cloud monitoring (e.g., Application Insights, Log Analytics)
- SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, MongoDB)
- Cloud architecture principles and modern application integration
- Agile delivery experience, with ability to:
- Work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentor technical staff
- Advantageous (but not required): Experience with ISO9001 or compliant regulated environments
