Meet the Team
Join Cisco’s Cloud Engineering team—a collaborative group of engineers, architects, and security professionals dedicated to designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based solutions that power Cisco’s next-generation products and services. Our team works closely with product managers, IT, security, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud infrastructure, while staying at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.
Your Impact
As a Cloud Engineer, you will:
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based solutions in line with Cisco’s security standards and industry best practices.
- Architect cloud solutions that combine multiple technologies to deliver optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead and contribute to the rollout of public and private cloud management platforms, evaluating their performance and implementing enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering, and security—to develop specifications for new cloud-based products and identify security optimization opportunities.
- Guide migration of existing services to the cloud, and automate:
- Infrastructure provisioning
- Configuration management
- Server management
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software:
- Build
- Test
- Deployment processes
- Utilize configuration management software (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef) to deploy and update cloud environments.
- Manage container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker for scalable application deployment.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of services.
- Ensure adherence to:
- Security processes
- Compliance protocols
- Change management in production environments
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of related experience; OR
- Master’s degree plus 3 years of related experience; OR PhD in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in:
- Software development
- Systems engineering
- Platform engineering
- Experience in designing and developing cloud-based solutions.
- Experience:
- Building code in multiple languages.
- Using configuration management software to deploy updates in the cloud.
- Familiarity with:
- CI/CD concepts and automation tools.
- Collaborating within cross-functional and agile teams.
- Knowledge of:
- Security, compliance, and change management procedures in cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Drone).
- Proficiency in:
- Scripting
- Programming languages such as Python, YAML, and shell scripting.
- Experience with:
- Containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
- Infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms:
- AWS
- Azure
- Google Cloud
- Their DevOps services.
- Familiarity with:
- Network automation and programmability (REST APIs).
- Monitoring and logging tools (Grafana).
- Source code repository management (Git).
- Demonstrated ability to automate:
- Infrastructure provisioning.
- Deployment processes.
- Server management.
- Experience:
- Guiding cloud migration projects.
- Leading quality control/testing efforts for scripts and automation.
- Ability to measure and report on key DevOps metrics:
- Deployment frequency
- Change failure rate
- MTTR (Mean Time To Recovery)
- Lead time
- Strong skills in:
- Communication
- Problem-solving
- Teamwork
- Commitment to staying current with emerging:
- DevOps tools
- Cloud best practices
