Senior Cloud Engineer

Senior Cloud Platform Engineer | Azure | AI | Microsoft Fabric | DevSecOps

  • Salary: £70,000–£80,000
  • Location: Remote
  • Sponsorship Option: None

I'm working with an innovative, technology-led organisation that's investing heavily in AI, cloud, and data platforms to build the next generation of enterprise applications. As they scale from proof of concept into fully governed production environments, they're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping their Azure platform.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join a business where cloud engineering is at the heart of product delivery. You'll help design, build, and evolve the Azure platform that supports AI services, business applications, and modern data solutions, ensuring everything is secure, scalable, observable, and production-ready.

The team will be working closely with software engineers, data specialists, and business application teams, with you owning the platform foundations that enable reliable delivery across:

  • Azure
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Azure AI services
  • Dynamics 365
  • The Power Platform

Responsibilities

  • Designing and improving:
    • Azure platform architecture
    • Governance
    • Networking
    • Identity
    • Environment strategy
  • Building Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or Terraform
  • Developing and maintaining:
    • CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Embedding DevSecOps practices, including:
    • Security scanning
    • Policy checks
    • Release gates
    • Automated deployments
  • Implementing monitoring and observability using tools such as:
    • Azure Monitor
    • Application Insights
    • Log Analytics
    • Datadog
  • Driving:
    • Platform reliability
    • Incident response improvements
    • Operational excellence
  • Supporting governance, compliance, and security initiatives within a regulated environment
  • Producing:
    • Technical documentation
    • Architecture standards
    • Operational runbooks

What We're Looking For

You’ll have strong experience in a Cloud, Platform, or DevOps Engineering role with a focus on Microsoft Azure. Key skills include:

  • Azure PaaS services, including:
    • Azure Functions
    • Logic Apps
    • API Management
    • Service Bus
    • Event Grid
    • Key Vault
    • Azure Monitor
  • Infrastructure as Code with Bicep and/or Terraform
  • CI/CD pipeline design, using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Azure identity:
    • Entra ID
    • RBAC
    • Managed Identities
  • Cloud security best practices
  • DevSecOps tooling, including:
    • Secrets management
    • Dependency scanning
    • Policy-as-code
  • Experience supporting:
    • Enterprise Microsoft platforms
    • Dynamics 365 Sales
    • Dataverse
    • Power Platform ALM
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, security, IT, and business stakeholders

Desirable Experience (advantageous but not required)

  • Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Lake
  • Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI services
  • Datadog, Grafana, or Dynatrace
  • Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, or Microsoft Sentinel
  • Financial services or other regulated environments
  • Microsoft certifications, including:
    • AZ-104
    • AZ-305
    • AZ-400
